 |
Saturday and Sunday, June 16 & 17, 2012
Brome Lake – The 34th edition of Tour du lac Brome Merell will be held on June 16 & 17 in the picturesque village of Knowlton in the Eastern Townships. Again this year, more than 4000 runners of all ages are expected to participate in one of the eight races organized during this major running event in Quebec.
This big family and sport event has become a “must-do” for all runners in the Province of Quebec thanks to its great atmosphere and the beautiful landscape surrounding the races. All events will finish in the Lions Park close to the Brome Lake Duck farm.
Among the many innovations this year you will find: the Marathon Challenge composed of two races spread over two days including one race of 22.2 km on Saturday between Bromont and Knowlton and the traditional 20 km around the lake on Sunday. All finishers having completed the magic distance of 42.2 km will have the privilege to receive a unique medal featuring a duck. On Saturday, two trail events will be organized: a 9 km for adults and a 2 km for children aged between 7 and 16 years old. The 5 km race will cross the heart of the magnificent village of Knowlton.
On Sunday morning, the 10 km and 20 km races will start at 9 AM and allow participants to run around the lake and through the beautiful landscape of the Eastern Townships. On both days, the youngest participants of the 1 km race will have access to the amusement park specifically created for them and enjoy a variety of activities including inflatable games and face painting. The 1.6 km Duck mile will close this great week end of celebration.
Register to the Tour du Lac Brome Merell 2012 before March 31 in order to get the early bird rate.
Again, this year, the duck will have the place of honour !

Just 2 weeks left for the Event - June 3rd 2011 |

Only two weeks left before the event and there is a noticeable buzz about the tour du lac brome. This year, the race span on two days, the Saturday is dedicated for the trail runs and the traditional 5km. Sunday is the day for the famous tour du lac, the 20km road race and the 10km road race which allows the runner to race around the second half of the lake.
Let’s talk TRAIL
Please note that the trail race is an adventurous track which runs in the forest and usually attracts the most adventurous of runners who likes a bit of mud. We advise all trail runners to wear long sleeves and trousers to cover exposed skin and reduce the risk of scratches and bruises. Also, try getting your hand on adapted running shoes for muddy terrain as the recent rain impact is still present on the trail.
For the kids, there is the 2km for our young adventurous runners. The kids will love the journey as they have obstacles and brooks to cross. Tie up your shoes and GO!
Let’s talk TOUR DU LAC
This year is our 33th edition of the tour du lac brome. It’s with enthusiasm that we receive you to our region so that you can travel around our magnificent lake brome. The 10km starts at the other end of the lake for the second year. For the participants of this event, we advise you to arrive as soon as possible to the Lions Park to take the shuttle.
It’s a great source of pride for the region’s citizen to offer you 8 water stations around the course where we foresee an incredible ambiance!
It’s with great pleasure that we invite you to eat a great meal of duck coupled with a delicious beer whilst listening to the excellent signer Amos Joannides (http://www.reverbnation.com/c./rpk/294601?access_code=bf4899a874125ce49e86&rid=1183441).
Thank you and see you soon for the celebration of the tour du lac brome!! |

A total succes the "tour du lac Brome 2010"- 20 juin 2010 |

Sunday June 20, the 32nd edition of the Tour du Lac Brome Merell was a great success beating the participation record with 3000 runners engaged in 5 races. This event is now placed as a must on June’s agenda of many runners from all over the province.
Since 3 years, the event has grown spectacularly ranging from 1200 registrations in 2008 to 3000 in 2010. According to the co-organizers: “since 2008, year after year we have constantly adapted the event to best suit the runners”.
The Tour du Lac Brome Merell is organized in the countryside with a dynamic team of 325 volunteers originating from Lac Brome city and its surroundings. We estimate that approximately 5% of locals are taking part in the organization.
Next year, the organizers plan to broaden the event over a 2-day week end in order to allow more runners to participate to the annual gathering while maintaining high quality standards in line with the maximum capacity of the site.
We want to thank the collaboration of Lac Brome municipality, the local Chamber of commerce, the Sûreté du Québec which were our key partners in terms of logistics. The contribution of Merell Canada, our major sponsor, ensured the success of the event along with all our other partners: Brome Lake Ducks, Boris beer, Fontaine Santé, Sports-Experts, Emballages Knowlton and all the hotels of the area.
We invite runners to participate to the 33rd edition of the Tour du Lac Brome Merell on the week end of June 19, 2011.
Thank you to the 3000 runners registered!
Sportingly,
Jean-Yves Cloutier and Jean Joly

Radio-Canada is proud to announce that Le P’tit Marathon is going strong across the province, and it’s passing through Brome Lake on Sunday, June 20, 2010, starting at 11:30 a.m. Everyone is looking forward to seeing official spokesperson Monsieur Craquepoutte, who will be on hand to encourage young runners. In the meantime, the famed character from TV’s Toc toc toc has challenged all local kids to beat his personal record and become the new champions in 2010!
To celebrate all the young participants’ efforts, Monsieur Craquepoutte will be making a pit stop to meet them after the run. Make a beeline to the Radio-Canada tent right after the race.
He will also award medals to winning runners on the 1-km course. You won’t want to miss all the fun!
Le P’tit Marathon Radio-Canada will be at Brome Lake on Sunday, June 20 starting at 11:30 a.m. in Parc des Lions (37 Centre Street). You can register by clicking the P’tit Marathon banner at Radio-Canada.ca/Estrie.
Still in the Running . . .
At Brome Lake, Le P’tit Marathon will kick off the 10th race to qualify for the 2010 provincial championships. There will be two more races, in Yamachiche and Mandeville. Next, the winners of the 12 races across Quebec will compete in Montreal on September 5. The big-city P’tit Marathon Radio-Canada will be the final round, crowning the young provincial champions!
Background
Put together by the Marathon Oasis de Montréal, with assistance from the organization Premiers Pas / Home-Start, Le P’tit Marathon Radio-Canada is a 1-km race mainly intended for children between the ages of 3 and 11. Although the event is primarily for youngsters, the race is open to parents too.
Kids have certainly been enjoying the event since its inception in 2007, but Le P’tit Marathon Radio-Canada is just as much fun for parents and friends, who get the unique opportunity to take part in a major family-friendly sporting activity. The primary goal is to raise awareness among young people of the importance of physical activity, while shining the spotlight on up-and-comers who will one day run Montreal’s Oasis 5K and 10K events, half-marathons and marathons.
